Training

I listed training first because this is something you should start looking into BEFORE you bring your puppy home. There are lots of books, online training programs, and in-person training programs available. Some of the in-person trainers may offer a board and train program. This can be a great option if you don’t have the time to properly train your puppy, or you prefer to hire a professional to give your puppy a great foundation. Just remember that whichever training options you choose, consistency is KEY- not only for you, but all the members of the household.

Everyone needs to be on the same page. If one person is trying to teach the puppy not to jump up, but someone else allows the puppy to jump, the puppy won’t learn the skill.
